Ahh, college. A magical place.

Back in 2010 I started going to Wright State University. At the time, I was majoring in education. I was going to become a teacher and I was pretty excited to do that. As time went on, I realized that maybe I didn't want to be a teacher. I really loved working with technology and founded a start up with a friend to make iPhone games. It was at that time that I decided to step away from college and think about what I wanted to do, all I knew is that it had to be something with technology as that's where my heart was.

As time went by, my dream of being the next "Angry Birds" company faded away. I realized that even if we made a great game, that does not guarantee success. As a 20 year old with a hunger for creativity and success, that was a hard pill to swallow. I started working a great 9-5 job that had a tuition reimbursement program. I decided once I was there long enough to activate the program (1 year), that I would go back and finish my degree.

One year passed, I didn't start school. My excuse was that was simply too busy in my career and should focus solely on that. "I'll start next year, I have time." Year two passed, I didn't start school. My excuse was the same, "School will always be there." When year 3 came around I told myself that I didn't need to go back to college. It took me wanting to switch career paths to start going back to college and by the time I started, which was in my 5th year at the company. I could have already graduated and had a masters degree by this point in time. Needless to say I was disappointed in myself.

So finally, I started school in February 2018 at CSU-Global. I really enjoy the school and I feel that I am doing really well in my classes. For those who are not aware, CSU-Global is an online extension of Colorado State University. Working 9-5 while being a father and husband, I couldn't just go to the standard university, it simply made more sense to take my courses online.

My major is Information Technology with specializations in Computer Programming, Cloud Computing & Virtualization and Database Management & Analysis. While I'm at CSU-Global I should graduate at some point in 2020, which is a lot later than it would have been if I just stayed in school... But sometimes it's not about when you finish something, it's if you finish something.
